1. This structure is derived from the neural crest. 2. This structure has cells with abundant smooth endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria with tubular cristae, and especially large lipid droplets. 3. This structure secretes mineralocorticoids. 4. This structure secretes sex steroids and is derived from the lining of the primitive coelomic cavity. 5. Epithelial cells in this structure are arranged in long straight cords running parallel to long straight sinusoids.

ANSWERS AND TUTORIAL ON ITEMS 1-5 The answers are 1-E; 2-C; 3-B; 4-D; 5-C. Figure 1.1 is a photomicrograph of the human adrenal gland. It is surrounded by a connective tissue capsule (A). The adrenal cortex (B-D) arises from proliferation of mesodermally derived coelomic epithelium and consists of three layers of cells. The outer layer is the zona glomerulosa (B). It is the source of mineralocorticoids. The middle and thickest layer is the zona fasciculata (C). It consists of long, straight cords of epithelial cells arranged between long sinusoids. The cortical cells all have an abundance of smooth endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria with tubular cristae, ultrastructural features common to all steroid-secreting cells. The cells of the zona fasciculata have a foamy appearance in the light microscope due to a profusion of large, lipid-rich vacuoles. The cells of the zona fasciculata secrete glucocorticoids. The cells of the zona reticularis (D) secrete sex steroids. The adrenal medulla (E) is derived from the neural crest and consists of two populations of cells, one secreting epinephrine and the other secreting norepinephrine.

About the Author
Michael E. Sherr (MSW, Ph.D., University of South Carolina) is professor and department head of social work at University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He also serves as a commissioner for the Commission on Education Policy for the Council on Social Work Education. Professor Sherr is an internationally recognized scholar with over 50 publications, including two other books, on several areas of research and scholarship. In 2010, Sherr received the international Young Scholars Award for his research from the University of Hong Kong. Johnny M. Jones (MSW, Florida State University; PhD, The Carver School of Church Social Work) is an assistant professor of social work at Baylor University. Previously on faculty at the University of South Carolina, he acted as interim director of the Center for Child and Family Studies, a research and training center within the College of Social Work. He is also former director of the South Carolina Professional Development Consortium, which includes all of the accredited social work programs in the state of South Carolina.

So far this has been a great help in choosing our rabbit for 4-h. A lot of great information on different breeds. What to watch out for in colors of your rabbit and what will disqualify you. The only thing that would make this book better would be more pictures of rabbit coloring, and disqualifications.

About the Author
Stephen Marshak is professor of geology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he is also the director of the School of Earth, Society, and Environment. He holds an A.B. from Cornell University, an M.S. from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Steve's research interests lie in structural geology and tectonics. This work has taken him into the field on a number of continents. Steve loves teaching and has won his college's and university's highest teaching awards. In addition to research papers and Earth Science, Steve has also authored Earth: Portrait of a Planet, Essentials of Geology, and has co-authored the Laboratory Manual for Introductory Geology, Earth Structure: An Introduction to Structural Geology and Tectonics, and Basic Methods of Structural Geology.

Buy the old edition. I have both and this one offers nothing new. There a few recent stories/added into this edition, but not worth x2 the extra cash. Please students, save yourself some time and money.

This book examines how wages are bargained, fought over and determined in China, by exploring how the pattern of labour conflict has changed over time since the 1970s. It focuses in particular on the city of Shenzhen where labour conflict and workers’ protests have been especially prevalent. This book includes a detailed account of the transformation of labour relations and labour policy in China more broadly during 2004 to 2009, a period when there have been significant changes in the labour market, labour regulation and labour relations. The author argues that these recent developments have brought to the fore the class basis of workers’ protest in China and have thoroughly undermined the post-Marxist analysis of identity politics. Engrossing Insider's Look at Air Power during the Gulf War

I just finished this book, and, quite frankly, I feel like I have just been through a war. As a US Air Force officer who was just starting out during the time of the Gulf War, I had been looking forward to reading this book for a long time. I had already learned quite a bit about the Gulf War through other sources, but I was looking for a legitimate source of what was actually happening, on the ground and in the air, from a day-to-day perspective, and from somebody who had lived the experience.

This was the right book! The opening chapters introduce us to Gen Chuck Horner in an autobiographical approach. We learn what motivates him as a pilot, as an officer, and as a human being. We gain some insights from his experiences during Vietnam, and ultimately learn how that affected his approach to the Gulf War.

But the bulk of the book is about the Gulf War, and how the coalition forces made their decisions on the best way to approach the battle situation. My favorite partsin this book, were the "day-in-the-life" segments. We get to follow Gen Horner from the moment he wakes up, through briefings, visits to units, phone calls, problem solving, meetings with coalition partners, etc. to the minute he finally, gets to go to bed. We see and appreciate the job he does at the most mundane level, and yet understand how those small things lead to the big picture of war fighting. Gen Horner is generous in spreading the credit for successes and does not hold back in accepting blame when that is appropriate.

The only reason I didn't rate this book 5 stars is the lengthy explanations of air power and strategy. For those who are not familiar with such concepts, this information is vital, and so you should consider my rating to be 5 stars.

Finally, I appreciated Gen Horner's essay's on coalition building and the future of air and space power. I was fortunate enough to be assigned to Space Command for a short time before Gen Horner retired as CINCSPACE and from the US Air Force. And even though I was but a lowly Lieutenant, and never spoke directly with Gen Horner, I can tell you his impact on all of us was profound. As Tom Clancy states at the end of the book, "Gen Chuck Horner was the right man at the right time."
