Excelllent Supplemental Resource

This book is an excellent ADDITIONAL resource to taking and getting an A in Organic Chemistry. It is really only relevant to Organic Chem I however. It provides tips on when to take Orgo and tips for studying and habits to avoid and to take advantage of. It covers basics that you will need to memorize no matter what and each tip is broken down based on its difficulty. Since every Orgo class is taught in different ways, it would be hard to go chronologically. Rather this book sort of just builds upon what you might have already done. So you'll have to search for whatever topic you want to look for. Make no mistake, this is a supplement to a real class. This could be used for review as well, but without having the basic knowledge down, many of these concepts will remain foreign to you.

This will not help you "ace organic chemistry"

As an Organic Chemistry tutor for the past 7 years, I found this book to be extremely deficient with the content that it provides students to "ace Organic Chemistry." The reactions are incomplete, the explanations are poor, and I don't feel that it hits on the important concepts that a student taking Organic Chemistry should know. You should spend your money elsewhere.

This text gives the wrong outlook on Organic Chemistry.

From the "Watch out for the flunking professor" section, this author really gives you the wrong outlook and attitude about this course, and (help me) science courses in general. So sad that people treat beautiful sciences courses this way. I'm an Organic prof and care deeply for my students and put a ton of time into teaching, aligning standards, office hours and discussion sections. Yes there is a high dropout rate, as there are in all science courses, but blaming the prof all the way? Please. Seems a bit too simple. You need to learn this topic at a deep level which takes time and grit.
Save your money on this text and buy Workbook for Organic Chemistry, Jenkins. 6ed and Dave Klein's Organic as a Second Language book. You'll be fine. Don't play into the hype. Good luck and good thinking.
